My Story

My life has been filled with ups and downs, twists and turns. I have wandered away from my faith in Christ many times. Yet His steady hand always held me along my stormy way.

After college, I sought success as a fabric, fashion and costumer designer in New York City. I designed for major labels, events at Lincoln Center and was a resident designer for a theatrical academy and opera company. But eventually I wanted more challenge. 

I made a left turn into the high-growth Information Systems industry and enrolled in the New York University MBA program. Learning corporate sales skills dotted my life after that decision and I repeatedly reached #1 sales leader breaking corporate records with Fortune 100 companies. 

Burnt out after over 15 years in NYC, I moved to a cabin in the mountains to distance myself from the whirlwind of the city and find peace. There I started reacquainting myself with the truths of the Bible.  

As time went by I met my husband Charles and we teamed up to grow our computer consulting business nationally.

Eventually we moved to Chicagoland and began teaching and counseling on Biblical stewardship at Willow Creek Community Church, churches from NY to AZ, and internationally from the Netherlands to Central America.

We were convicted to teach in under-resourced areas. We left our safe, comfortable lives behind and headed out on our sailboat Ancient Path sailing from Chicago to South America, and living on the east coast of the Dominican Republic. This God-led adventure directed us to help international tourism workers and Haitian pastors in the Caribbean through our 501(c)3 Pilotage Group International.

Years later after returning to the United States, I picked up my sales career again full steam.  But a sudden stroke caused me to stop and question what I was doing. I took a much-needed break during my recovery and wondered what God had in store.

Eventually, I left the corporate world again to pursue my dream of working alongside my husband again forming Pilotage Group, Inc. to help others communicate their stories through book publishing and speaking. 

As creative director, I advised our clients on marketing, book design, launching new products, and websites. I developed the Catapult Your Message Program. I organized and promoted events and tours, including multiple Your Message Conferences and the Impact Edge Summit.

After COVID changed the world and we both recovered from health problems, we realized it was time to streamline our lives and work. A move to a smaller town in Texas gave us time to study, write and see our next life phase unfold.

Today my focus is on speaking, writing and coaching. Many times I team teach along side my husband, Dr. Charles Sanger. In addition to being a Stonecroft speaker since 2014 presenting at women's events, I love to inspire groups at various churches, meetings, and conferences onsite and remotely.
